I went to DC to visit Jessica for the 4th of July weekend and fell in love with it. What a romantic, beautiful city! The weather was perfect, not too humid. I got to tour the Capitol, bike ride to all the monuments, eat amazing food, walk around Old Town and Georgetown, find my dream house in Cleveland Park, etc. My favorite was a secret garden type place next to the National Cathedral. It was this huge garden with pathways and benches. I could have stayed there all day. Here are some pictures from my great trip.
Jessica gave me a behind the scene tour of the Capitol which was so beautiful inside.
I loved the Lincoln Monument. I sat out on the back of it for a long time overlooking the Potomac and almost fell asleep.
The beautiful streets of Old Town
Watching fireworks from the Air Force Monument.
Walking to a Greek restaurant in Dupont.
Reading a fake book in my secret garden
One of my dream houses.
Another dream house. I thought it was small but when we walked to the side it kept going and going.
Jessica's dream house that is for sale. Only a little over a million dollars.
I can't wait to go back again! There is so much to see and do there it's impossible to do it all.

My Ankle Complex

Gold's Gym has designated July as "Cankle Awareness Month."
I think I have big ankles! There I said it.
I realize I am a thin person but I have always thought my ankles for big my small frame. Don't try to argue with me about this because it won't help. I would prefer you to take a minute and measure your ankles and let me know how many inches yours are. I measured mine today and would like to compare.
Let me know. Thank you.
P.S. Please don't make it obvious you are checking them out next time you see me. I will be insecure about that. Just don't draw any attention to them.

Delilah...Love Someone Tonight
I admit it. For most of my life, I have enjoyed listening to "Delilah" a little bit in the evenings on Sunny 106.5. She can be totally mushy and annoying but what's so bad about that? I have even cried at times listening to some of the callers tell their stories. Last night when I was driving home I turned the station to her show, since I hadn't listened in a long time, and I don't regret it.
I was bored today and decided to finally put a face to the voice and see what Delilah looks like. I was surprised. I imagined brown hair. Interesting.
Delilah you are great no matter what anyone else says! Love someone tonight....

Adventures in Nepal

My sister, Melissa, left Friday for a 2 month medical internship in Nepal. I miss her already! She made a blog so that we can stay updated on what she is doing over there. The link is mkcnepaltrip.blogspot.com/
A couple hours before she boarded for her 17 hour plane ride, we had a family dinner at Olive Garden. This is our goodbye picture.
She is going to have such a great experience in Nepal and I can't wait to hear all about what she gets to see, do, and learn. I love you sissy!

I learned this weekend.....
....that there are two stretches of road on the way to Provo, near Fillmore, that the speed limit is this:
This must be new and I think it's a great idea. I loved it.

My Complications With Love

Good job John Mayer. You made me remember why I used to love you so long ago. Thank you for putting into words some of my unorganized thoughts in a way that allows them to make perfect sense.

I Heart Pizza

When I like a certain food, I want to eat it everyday. The last few weeks I have been OBSESSED with the Arugula and Pear Pizza from Sammy's Woodfired Pizza. It is by far the best pizza I've ever had. Tonight will be the fourth time I've eaten it in about a week and a half. I can't get enough!
What if you had to choose only one thing to eat for the rest of your life? What would it be? Mine would easily be this arugula and pear pizza.

Don't Trust Me
For the past 2 weeks, the radio has been playing a new song that I think might contain the worst lyrics. Anytime this song is on I want to beat it up. I wish I actually could beat up a song because I totally would! Have you heard "Don't Trust Me" by 3Oh!3? If you have, I am sorry. If you haven't, DON'T!
Here's the line that has topped my list of worst lyric of all time. Who came up with this? Who though it was clever? What does it even mean? Grr! So so so stupid!
"Shush girl, shut your lips. Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips"
My apologies to Helen Keller.

If you have ever wondered what I get to where to work then today is your lucky day. I work in a doctor's office and you may think I wear scrubs everyday but you are so wrong. Monday, Wednesday, Friday I get to live out my childhood dream and be on a "sports team". I even make the faces like I imagine I would if I was really playing the sport. Don't be jealous. Go Team Martin!!!

I Just Threw Up In My Mouth
Is anyone hungry? You might want to wait a minute before eating ever again!! This is what the FDA allows to be in our food. Isn't this disgusting?!
I was going to post a picture to go along with this post but they all made me sick to my stomach! Maggots repulse me and were the reason I couldn't eat hamburgers for many years. Enjoy!
Can contain up to...
Canned Pineapples: 20 percent positive mold tests
Canned Tomatoes: 5 fly eggs and 1 maggot per 500 grams
Frozen Broccoli: 60 mites per 100 grams
Ground Cinnamon: 400 insect fragments and 11 rodent hairs per 50 grams
Peanut Butter: 30 insect fragments and 1 rodent hair per 100 grams
Popcorn: 20 gnawed grains or 2 rodent hairs per pound
Potato Chips: 6 percent rotten chips

A Little List of This and That
1. My Logandale family finally took new pictures. I love how they turned out! Here are two.

2. I took my little sister, McKenna, on her first plane ride last weekend. She LOVED it! We went shoe shopping the night before and she tried on this shoe and said "Doesn't this shoe just scream Vegas?" She cracks me up.
3. Shout out to both my moms for Mother's Day and my dad for his birthday all last weekend.

4. I am dying to see this movie. I also am obsessed with the main girl and want to be her.
5. I craved camping all day long so I started planning a big summer camping trip. I have a huge tent I have yet to use. What is the best place to go to that is close and doesn't require hiking? Haha! My idea of camping doesn't include hiking.

Jean Short Shocker!

I was informed last week that young guys no longer wear jean shorts and actually, haven't for many years. Am the only person who was unaware of this? I never noticed that jean shorts on guys has become dorky and outdated. What are guys wearing during the hot summer? I think it is fine if they want to sport the jean shorts but I may be the standing alone on this one.

Dancing to My Own Beat
Dancing is so therapeutic to me and I love doing it as much as I can. That being said, I don't dance in public. Most people who know me have not seen me dance before. I feel like most people wouldn't understand or appreciate my free style technique. I don't dance like most people and I don't dance sexy. I just let my body move whatever way it wants to.
My friend was watching "Ellen" last week and started laughing hysterically because she realized that I dance like "a bad version of Ellen". She does have a point but I don't really care. I'm not too embarrassed about it. Someday the world will accept me and my dancing skills. Until then....

Where Are They Now!?
Here are my top 4 childhood crushes. I was wondering what happened to them all the other day and wanted to know what they looked like now. Here is what I found.
1. Gavin Rossdale of Bush - I had his poster hanging in my room through most of the mid '90's. He has aged very well!
Then:
Now:
2. Elijah Wood - I wanted to name my son after him because I loved him so much in "Radio Flyer", "Forever Young", and "Huck Finn".
Then:
Now:
3. Devon Sawa - My melted my heart in "Casper" and "Now and Then" but he doesn't do anything for me anymore but gross me out.
Then:
Now:
4. JTT aka Jonathan Taylor Thomas - He was so "fine" in "Home Improvement" and "Man of the House". I don't think he has grown since then though and the rumors are false he is not gay!
Then:
Now:

The Killers

In two weeks, my sister and I are going to see them. I can't wait! They have been on my "concert to go to" list and I'm excited to check another one off. My sister is The Killers number one fan. I am more like their number 10.
Their latest CD "Day & Age" has been on repeat in my car and on my ipod for the last few months. I can't get enough of it. This CD is one I can listen to from start to finish and love every song.

I Guess I Am Really Happy!
Dr. David Holmes, a psychologist at Manchester Metropolitan University in England, claims a person's first name has a direct impact on their happiness.
How? According to Dr. Holmes, names carry with them certain associations . . . either positive or negative and our personalities are shaped based on those associations.
I don't know if I really buy this but I liked it because my name was on the list!
The HAPPIEST MALE names are:
#5.) Barry
#4.) Terry
#3.) Matthew
#2.) Jason
#1.) Joshua
The HAPPIEST FEMALE names are:
#5.) Pat
#4.) Pam
#3.) Linda
#2.) Stephanie
#1.) Judy
The UNHAPPIEST MALE names are:
#5.) Owen
#4.) Tim
#3.) Edward
#2.) Andrew
#1.) Ben
And the UNHAPPIEST FEMALE names are:
#5.) Tara
#4.) Amy
#3.) Tina
#2.) Charlotte
#1.) Lynn

Reese's Eggs
I sure do love Easter time. Somehow, I ate an entire bag of these in less than 24 hours. How did this happen? I have no idea but I don't feel bad about it at all.

Never Say Never
I'm beginning to think I'm good with cars. I have never......
...locked my keys in my car
....or been in a car accident when I was driving
...or been pulled over

Released!
This week I was released from Primary. It was bittersweet. I have loved serving here the past year and feel like this was the best calling for me, ever. I loved the people I served with and made many lifelong friends. I also fell in love with this great group of kids! They made my year so special and filled my heart with so much love! I will never forget this experience and everything I have learned.

Confessions of a Nerd

My favorite website is www.howstuffworks.com. I admit to spending abnormal amounts of time on here. Whenever I have a few extra minutes, I get on, start reading about everything and get completely sucked in! I love learning and this website appeals to my nerdy brain! Sue me.

Statue of Snuggie
I tried on one of those Snuggies recently while in California and instantly felt like Lady Liberty. Can you believe over 4 million of these things have been sold? I think they are pretty ridiculous!
